I started this blog with the URL which reads 'My Watan' meaning My Nation. I used this space mainly to write about the major problems that (still)plague India and discuss ideas/solutions for the same. Somewhere down the line, the focus in this blog became Girls; Young girls and most importantly, the role Education plays in shaping the life of these Young girls. I believe that educating young girls in India is one of the most important solutions to overcome many of the hurdles we are facing as a developing country today! Dont believe me? Watch the videos, read the poems and my personal experiences!

Hope is a good thing, may be the best of things!

My Angel

I called you mah 'Angel', you called me yours....
You were my teacher... And I was yours...
You taught me to learn your language, Braille....
I taught you to communicate with me thru' e-mail.
Alas now thats the only way we shall communicate....
As you move away from me, to a far off place!!
I know its for your greater good...Infact,
The greatest thing that has happened to you!!!
And you deserve it very much dear!!!!
Every bit of it, you do.....!!!!
You are one of the greatest of God's creations;
Your kindness, your patience and your courage...
Make my life seem so full of light...
Its light you cannot see.... But its light you fill mah life with!!
Cheers to your success...
May happiness kiss your feet all the way :) :)

I will miss you!!!!!!!!

SashiRekha is blind.. She is a teacher at the Devnar School for the blind at Begumpet, Hyd. She helped me see the world thru' her eyes... though she lost her vision a few years back.
She taught me the basics of Braille script and how to interact with and teach blind kids...
And she is an amazing teacher for sure!!!!!
Her knowledge to use the keyboard(as she cannot use the mouse)  can put most of the higly qualified software engineers to shame.. And her hard-work, dedication and courage to rise above the ordinary is an tremendous inspiration to one and all... not to forget, her ever-smiling face... which will make you cry out of happiness!!!!!
She has made a job in TCS-Tata Consultancy Services, and to think abt it.. she cannot see(she is more than 90% visually-impaired)!!! And she is gonna be a techie(just like us) soon!!!!!! She is moving to Mumbai on 15th Nov for her TCS training.

Here's wishing you ALL THE BEST for life to you  mah dear friend :) :)
I will miss you no doubt.... Dont forget to email me,ok!!!

I realized from this post, you have shown many of us the light that can conquer the darkness of any form, the courage that can shadow the impossible and last but not the least the smile that speaks the simplest form of life which has the power of being extra ordinary. Sashi, all the very best for your future endeavor.

Diva, thanks! for spreading the light.

Quitters never win; winners never quit. I guess everyone can take a leaf out of Sashirekhas book.

I have always maintained- we never really lose anything. We have everything to gain. Experience. It is how we accept reality and adapt to situations (be it because of the environment or because of our own faculty!)...

I wish her well as she embarks upon her enterprise in this dog-eat-dog [corporate] world...
